(SONY BMG Music Entertainment) - John Mayer fans, get ready to have your world rocked - the singer is returning with a brand new album, and he's got a couple of friends along for the ride! John Mayer Trio is John's newly formed group, and they release their eagerly anticipated debut album 'Try! John Mayer Trio Live In Concert' this Sunday. If you happened to catch any of the 2005 Grammys, you might already have seen the fabulous John Mayer Trio performing live. Comprising Mayer himself plus veteran players Steve Jordan (Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones) and bassist Pino Palladino (the Who, Jeff Beck), JM3 performed a captivating rendition of Mayer's 'Daughters', which later that evening won the awards for Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Now, they release their first ever album, 'Try!', which was recorded live at the Chicago House of Blues in September and features a mix of covers, past Mayer hits reworked for a trio setting and new material. On the John Mayer Trio website, John had this to say about his newly formed group: "John Mayer Trio... What is it? Is he ever going to release "pop" music again? Should I trust his intentions? Know this - John Mayer Trio is an idea. It will always be an idea.
Even at the same time as it's a band, it's still an idea. It's a place to put my heart and soul when I feel like too many people have their hands on it. It's a way to check myself to make sure I'm not getting away with anything too easy. The comfort zone is gone with this band. My level of playing is in constant flux with the bar of what I know I can do. "Sometimes I just inch over it, and sometimes it comes under. But it feels more vital than just hitting homeruns in a little league field. John Mayer Trio is more truthful to myself than I have ever been, and I'm going to take from it and graft it onto everything I ever do from now on. And as for Steve and Pino, I'm not worried that we'll be playing together for a long time to come. Some very, very cool music is going to happen with this band, even sooner than you think. I am in two bands now. Always."
