DJ Snake Links With Fridayy On New Single "Complicated"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Globally renowned French DJ and multi-platinum producer DJ Snake releases new single "Complicated" featuring GRAMMY-Award nominated R&B sensation Fridayy.
"Tell me what you want," Fridayy croons soulfully as the after-hours track ramps up. "Please don't make it complicated, why do you gotta complicate it?" The tempo rises as the song approaches its hypnotic chorus: "Don't know why you're driving me crazy, please don't make it complicated." That's followed by waves of Spanish guitar flourishes, enchanting percussion and an epic synth breakdown. Overall, the club anthem is a study in atmosphere from one of dance music's most iconic innovators.

"Complicated" follows hot on the heels of DJ Snake's celebrated collaboration with international hitmaker Peso Pluma for "Teka," an infectious record that has been on heavy rotation all summer. The superstar collaboration fuses Pluma's crisp vocals with Snake's dynamic production skills resulting in a pulsating anthem transcendent of cultural genre boundaries.

No other artist embodies the concept of global dance music better than DJ Snake, who over the last decade has achieved the kind of rarified and wildly transformative success that few ever come close to attaining. Originally from a housing project on the outskirts of Paris, Snake made his full-length debut in 2016 with Encore, a groundbreaking album that reached #1 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and debuted in the top 10 around the world. His 2019 album, Carte Blanche only furthered his superstardom with global hits "Loco Contigo" featuring J. Balvin & Tyga, and "Taki Taki" featuring Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B. Since scoring his first #1 single with the four-times-platinum "Let Me Love You" ft. Justin Bieber, the multi-platinum-selling DJ / producer has shattered industry records with smash hits such as "Taki Taki", delivered era-defining records like "Turn Down for What" (with Lil Jon), earned over 80+ diamond single certifications and over 400+ platinum single certifications from the RIAA, amassed over 40B global streams, and made history as the first artist to perform atop the roof of the Arc de Triomphe.
Along with repeatedly turning out tracks that top the charts around the world - including three songs that have surpassed a staggering billion streams on Spotify - making him one of only two dance acts to have reached this milestone thus far - the multi-award-winning phenomenon brings his boundary-pushing ingenuity to music that builds unexpected and undeniably powerful bridges between vastly different cultures and genres.

Born Francis LeBlanc, Fridayy learned to play several instruments at a young age — including piano, guitar, drums, trumpet, and bass, at the encouragement of his father, a Haitian immigrant, and musician. Nurturing his love for music and instrumentation in a local church choir, where he'd begin to craft his spacious and evocative sound, a blend of alternative R&B and gospel that was also inspired by his favorite acts PartyNextDoor and The Weeknd. Between 2012 and 2013, Fridayy released a steady stream of music on SoundCloud, and while he worked on his art quietly, Fridayy actively pursued a career in basketball, but an injury derailed his NBA dream. He returned to his first love and set himself back on a path towards music full-time.
After years of building a solid reputation with high-profile industry executives and musicians, the Philadelphia artist and multi-instrumentalist breakthrough arrived in 2022 as a feature on DJ Khaled's "GOD DID," featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z. He has also recently written, produced, and collabed with countless artists, including Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Lil Tjay, and Rod Wave, to name a few. This year, Fridayy was named as part of XXL's 2023 Freshman Class of 2023. He gave a heartfelt performance for his freestyle that featured a choir to sing background vocals.
