NEW YORK (Roadrunner Records) - On January 15, 2006, the New York Dolls will enter a hometown studio with Jack
Douglas - producer of classic albums by Aerosmith, John Lennon, Cheap Trick, and the Dolls themselves - to record their first album of entirely new material since 1974's Too Much Too Soon.
Led by David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, the band Rolling Stone Magazine credits with "the sound and snarl of jubilant outlaw spirit" will record new tracks including "Punishing World," "Plenty of Music" and "Rainbow Store."
The New York Dolls are Johansen (vocals) and Sylvain (guitar), with Steve Conte (guitar), Sami Yaffa (bass), Brian Delaney (drums) and Brian Koonin (Keyboards), and will tour the world in support of the new release - scheduled for summer 2006 on Roadrunner.
Says Johansen, "Everything feels right. We're excited to get back into the studio to record what we feel are the strongest tracks of our careers."
In a time in music that is chock full of comebacks (the successful reunions of The Pixies and The Stooges, among others), Smiths legend Morrissey (a past President of the New York Dolls fan-club) made the request that reunited the Dolls in 2004 for the Meltdown Festival in the UK.
Ever since, the Dolls have been touring steadily, playing festivals around the world including two dates in Ireland as special guests of fans the White Stripes.
Says the LA Times, "On stage, the Dolls proved worthy of the legendary status that has been built over the years, and then some."
In addition, the band has been headlining shows around the US including Little Steven's Underground Garage Festival on Randallâ?Ts Island, NY, WHFestival in Baltimore, MD, shows at both SXSW and NXNE and most recently the Across the Narrows concert on Staten Island.
