DORTMUND, Germany (MATERNA Information & Communications) - This year, MATERNA information and telecommunications specialist, is, for the first time, represented on the world's greatest music trade fair, "MIDEM". From 22 to 26 January 2006, the company is presenting its new MusicMACS - a full track music download portal. Apart from this, visitors will have the possibility to download a ring tone onto a mobile device by means of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) at the MATERNA booth.
MusicMACS is a full track music download portal, developed on the basis of a well-established service delivery platform MACS, which allows the download of music onto both mobile end devices and computers. All current DRM (Digital Rights Management) standards are supported. The target group for the new platform consists of mobile operators, service providers, Internet providers and all companies intending to offer their customers a portal providing music content.
Add-ons provided by MusicMACS, apart from newsletters, are constantly varying voting's, charts and other value added services, for example
- Recommendations from the editorial department,
- MMS and SMS information, ring tones, logos
- The possibility to appraise a song,
- A feature to notify customers as soon as a new song from their favourite artists is ready for download.
A white label portal, which can be adapted to individual requirements, rounds off the service. Customers benefit from MATERNA's long-time experience in creating and processing mobile phone content.
Live presentation " Ring tone download over RFID"
RFID, as a communication and marketing channel, becomes more and more important. This technology enables a non-contacting identification of any kind of objects through radio waves. It closes up new practicable fields of application, replacing well-known features of the barcode or the optical recognition of objects.
MIDEM will be the first opportunity for MATERNA to show an application in the telecommunications environment. An advertising placard will call on the visitors to hold a mobile device at a specially marked point. Approaching this point, the device automatically generates an order SMS to MusicMACS, asking the user's permission to send it. After this, the SMS is sent to MusicMACS, which sends back a WAP Push with the ring tone download, to be downloaded and saved by the purchaser.
