
BURBANK, CA - (By Bill Bentley/ Reprise Records Media Relations) - "Neil Young: Greatest Hits," the 2004 collection of many of the legendary artist's most enduring songs, has been certified gold by the R.I.A.A., signifying sales in excess of 500,000 units.
The Reprise Records release features sixteen classic tracks spanning much of the singer and songwriter's hugely influential career. Selections include "Down By The River," "Cowgirl In The Sand," "Cinnamon Girl," "Helpless," "After The Gold Rush," "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," "Southern Man," "Ohio," "The Needle & The Damage Done," "Old Man," "Heart Of Gold," "Like A Hurricane," "Comes A Time," "Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)," "Rockin' In The Free World" and "Harvest Moon."
All production aspects of "Neil Young: Greatest Hits" were overseen by the artist in DVD Stereo mixes from the original masters. Young has long championed DVD Stereo as the best and most authentic sound technology currently available. "Neil Young: Greatest Hits" was made available as a CD as well, and double-album vinyl editions.
Neil Young's latest Reprise Records release is "Prairie Wind," one of the most acclaimed albums of 2005, recently named a Time Magazine Critic's Choice. "Heart Of Gold," a Neil Young concert film directed by Academy Award® winner Jonathan Demme, is set to premier at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23 and will open nationwide February 10. Young has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, to be announced February 8, and is on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
