DETROIT, (Greater Grace Temple) - Music fans can kick off the Big Game weekend with the Motor City Gospel Fest featuring LIVE performances by some of the biggest names in gospel music and a special "Salute to the Black Athlete." It all happens on February 3rd, 2006 at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. Start time is 7:30 p.m.

Gospel music lovers are expected to pack-out Greater Grace's 4,000 seat cathedral to hear some of America's favorite gospel artists including Detroit's own Karen Clark-Sheard, Marvin Sapp, Rance Allen, and Ricky Dillard & New Generation. Other artists include rising gospel stars Kiki Sheard and gospel jazz guitarist Tim Bowman.

The event will also honor some of Detroit's best-known "Black Athletes" for their athletic accomplishments and efforts to promote the city. Jerome "The Bus" Bettis, Thomas "Hitman" Hearns, Eric Beverly (Atlanta Falcons), Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers), Larry Foote (Steelers), Willie Green (Phila. 76ers), and former NBA star Derrick Coleman will be among those honored.

"The Motor City Gospel Fest is a great opportunity to showcase some of the top gospel artists - both locally and nationally," says Greater Grace's Pastor, Bishop Charles H. Ellis III. "It also offers a very affordable, quality event for the residents of Detroit as well as those who are visiting for Big Game activities. It's a great day in Detroit!"

The gospel fest is sponsored by Greater Grace Temple, Pepsi-Cola, and Radio One's 105.9 KISS-FM Detroit. Tickets are only $20 General Admission for the event. Reserved seats are only $50 and include a private after-concert reception with refreshments.
