LOS ANGELES (Capitol Records) - The house of Calvin Klein has lined up Fischerspooner for the label's upcoming fete in Florence.

The Electroclash band will star in Klein's Jan. 13 party to celebrate the fashion house's debut at Pitti Uomo, the world's most important men's wear trade show.

Fischerspooner are creating a special live performance especially for Klein's show in Teatro Goldoni, located in the centre of the Tuscan capital.

Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner are the duo behind NYC's flamboyant electro art-pop group Fischerspooner, a bizarre take on techno theatricality. Think Cecil B DeMille meets a shapely Leigh Bowery at rave party in Ibiza and you have an inkling of where Fischerspooner are coming from.

The pair met in the Chicago Art Institute, staged their first gig in a Starbucks, played in a bar in the World Trade Center and now they and a cast of singers, dancers, choreographers, set designers, costumers, and, of course, stylists play all over the planet.

In short, Fischerspooner are a unique mélange of frock and roll at its hippest. Who will ever forget the now infamous latex and human hair jumpsuit in which Spooner explored (amongst another things) the relationship between nature and man at artist Gavin Brown's studio?

Downtown stars in Manhattan, Fischerspooner are revered on the Continent, ever since they were picked up by German spinmeister and alternative music honcho DJ Hell.

So it's seems a fitting juxtaposition that Warren and Casey get to perform in Teatro Goldoni, an early 19th century theatre known for classic operas, for Calvin Klein, especially seeing that the label's creative directors Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli hasve injected a more artistic approach into the house.

Pitti traditional stages one-off events organized by major international labels - but there's a buzz about this show that it might be the best ever.

As previously reported by FWD, Pitti will also feature Martin Margiela. Fashion's conceptual artist will re-look the Fortezza da Basso, the giant medieval fortress where the majority of exhibitors traditionally present their wares.

American designer Rick Owens will stage a major three-part series of events in January at Pitti: a 'Dustulator' men's fall-winter 2006 fashion show; plus Dustdam and Dustpump, featuring his Gothic minimalist clothing and his recently launched collection of battered and arty furniture in the Stazione Leopoldo. The 150-year-old railway station has been the scene for landmark shows and installations by mega designers such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Hedi Slimane and Viktor & Rolf, who famously modeled their entire debut men's collection on themselves.
The Florence trade show last season lured over 23,000 buyers.
