NEW YORK (britneyspears.com) -
Britney Spears has made a date with
Elton John, Oprah Winfrey, and soccer coach Rob Rodson.
The 20-year-old star is set to appear as a special guest on Oprah Winfrey's show on Monday (Feb. 4) as part of her continuing round of promotion for her debut movie, Crossroads, which goes on general release in the U.S. on Feb. 15.
She taped the show on Thursday (Jan. 24) after an eventful 10-day promotional visit to Europe, during which: she compared chocolate to an orgasm in Germany; she reportedly broke down and cried on a TV show after a young fan sang one of her songs (the show is due to air on Graine de star on Channel M6 this Friday) in France; and she admitted Prince William had blown her off in England.
Meanwhile, Elton John wants to play Spears' dad in his next video. Spears' official Web site (www.britneyspears.com) reveals that photographer David LaChapelle will direct the video for the follow-up to "This Train Don't Stop Here Anymore." That clip features a guest appearance by her boyfriend, 'NSync singer Justin Timberlake, who plays a young John in the 1970s.
"I like this concept, and my director wants to do a continuation of the same night -- the same era but from a fan's perspective," says John in a posting on her site. "Justin will come onstage and we want to use a girl, get it from a fan's perspective. If we do it, my personal favorite would be Britney Spears. I want to play her dad in the video."
And, in other Spears news, fans can expect to see a little soccer action in her next Pepsi commercial, which will debut at the Super Bowl on Sunday (Feb. 3). She had to take three hours of soccer lessons with famed coach Rob Rodson to gear up for the spot. The site also reveals that she's looking at yet another movie to do, and as previously reported, she'll be hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live this Saturday (Feb. 2).
