Buzz Builds on Daniel Powter in Anticipation of Canadian Pop Artist's Album Release on April 11th

Records Publicity) - The buzz is building around Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Powter - who will release his self-titled debut album on April 11th - thanks to the momentum already achieved by "Bad Day," the album's lead-off single. The piano-pop track is currently the Number One most digitally downloaded song on iTunes and the album is in the Top Ten.

"Bad Day" is also burning up at radio, charting with an audience of more than 38 million (No 3 Hot AC, No 5 AC, No 35 Pop, and No 14 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart) and climbing.

The breakthrough success of "Bad Day" is partially due to the incredible TV exposure Powter has enjoyed. "Bad Day" has been used four times this season on the Fox juggernaut "American Idol." It can also be heard in the promos for the Showtime series "Weeds," and the video is in heavy rotation on VH1, which is featuring Powter as its "You Oughta Know, Artist on the Rise." The Vancouver native also performed alongside Green Day, Brian Wilson, and Audioslave at the Live 8 concert in Berlin last summer to a potential television audience of 2 billion viewers.

Powter is also preparing for a slew of high-profile TV appearances he will make the week of the album's release. He will perform "Bad Day" on the "Today Show" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" on April 14th, on "Live with Regis and Kelly" on April 18th, and on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 26th.

The excitement about Powter in America comes on the heels of the 34-year-old's phenomenal year across the ocean, where he has already sold a total of one million albums. "Bad Day" beat out Coldplay, U2, and James Blunt to top an airplay survey of the biggest European radio hits of the year, which is based on the playlists of 100 radio stations across the continent. He also topped the individual airplay charts for the year in France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Australia, among others.

Powter's debut album, which the artist has described as "keyboard music on steroids," was produced by Mitchell Froom, who is known for his work with Suzanne Vega, Los Lobos, and Richard Thompson.
