NEW YORK (Atlantic Records) - Reggae and Dancehall superstar
Sean Paul has once again claimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with 'Temperature,' which is the Top Airplay Gainer for the fourth time in five weeks as it rockets to No 1 after 11 weeks on the charts. This marks the third time
Sean Paul has held down the No 1 single - he previously rose to the peak of the charts with 'Get Busy' and 'Baby Boy' featuring
Beyonce from his previous album Dutty Rock.
'Temperature' is the second single off Sean's new VP/Atlantic album, The Trinity, which is fast approaching platinum status here in the US and has already sold well over a million copies outside of the US. The Trinity is currently No 25 and rising after some 25 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 album charts; it debuted at No 7 in late September, with 107,000 copies sold in its first week, a US sales record for a Jamaican artist.
The rise of 'Temperature' makes Sean Paul the most successful Jamaican artist ever on the US charts, with three No 1 singles, five Top Ten Hits, and eight chart entries. Other Top Ten hits include 'Gimme The Light' and The Trinity's first single 'We Be Burnin,' which peaked at No 7 and is still receiving spins at radio around the country. Sean Paul is currently on tour in support of The Trinity, with upcoming stops in New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Denver, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Following the US leg of the tour, the international star will head to South Africa.
The Trinity is the follow-up to Sean's smash hit Dutty Rock, which sold more than 6 million copies worldwide. In the wake of the breakthrough success of Dutty Rock, Sean racked up numerous prestigious awards, including the Grammy for Best Reggae Album - redefining the category in the process. He won MTV Europe's Best New Artist Award as well as Source, MOBO, Juno, Much Music, and International Reggae and World Music awards.
