New York, NY (Evol Records) - In the Old West it was twenty paces and shoot that proved who was right and who was not. Today it's a war of words; verse that is, Hip Hop's answer to a western showdown. Evol Records announced today that rapper MC Serge has been verbally called out by next generation rapper Chad Love. The two met on VH1 Ego Trip's 'The White Rapper Show' television pilot where MC Serge was the host/judge and Chad Love one of the contenders.
The Evol Records sponsored battle event is planned to be take place at the Spirit Night Club. The battle will take place in front of 3,000 people with three judges picked out at random to judge the event. Specifics of the date and time of the rap battle between Chad Love and MC Serve will be announced soon at www.evolrecords.com.
The story behind the story:
In early October of 2005, VH1's Ego Trip was holding casting for a new reality TV Pilot show called Ego Trips 'The White Rapper Show'. After wading through thousands of applicants they selected seven finalist/contenders, of which Chad Love was one. The goal was to battle it out to determine who was the best white rapper of the group. The sole and almighty decision maker was to me MC Serge.
For those of you who don't know or remember, MC Serge was one of the first Eminem of Hip Hop. His career with his group 3rd Base and their hit song 'Pop Goes The Weasel'. Since then he has been in A&R and is now hosting his own radio show in Detroit.
As one of the best talents in preliminary trials, Chad Love was named a group leader and picked his team. Each group was put through trials to eliminate the weaker performers, culminating in a single winner who would be declared The Best White Rapper. But things heated up quickly between MC Serge and Chad Love as they exchanged words throughout the first days.
The surprise ending:
Early on in the competition it became apparent to Chad Love that VH1 Ego Trip's 'The White Rapper Show' was really more of an 'un-reality' show. So, he decided to mix things up to stay true to himself, make a statement and, well, have some fun too.
After an early challenge, members of Love's team were given twenty minutes to create an impromptu verse using a group of random words provided. This was meant to be elimination round for a member of the Chad Love lead group.
Chad Love was the last rapper to perform. His topic words were 'White Power' Chad wrote a song about a Jewish vampire called Count Drac-u-Love. DJ Paul told Chad He put an interesting twist on the topic. MC Serge told Chad it was 'whacked'.
MC Serge then asked all the rappers to stand up for him to select the person to go home. At that moment, Chad Love added an ending to the show that even the Executive Producers didn't see coming. Love knew that his performance was stronger then any of his team members this time around. So, Chad Love stood up in front of his group and announced to MC Serge that as group leader he has elected himself to leave the show. Everyone of the set was kind of shocked. He then went to each group member to give him or her a hug before walking himself out the loft doors.
The Challenge:
On his way out of the loft, Chad Love stopped the Ego Trip Camera Crew and on tape, called out MC Serge. Chad said going into this show he only had the up most respect for this pioneer white rapper but after meeting him in person and seeing the true Mike Bernin it turned into more like 'Pop Goes The Weasel'. So, Chad Love decided to call him out to prove once and for all, who is the REAL Best White Rapper. On the spot, Chad Love challenged MC Serge to come outside the loft to accept his personal 5,000 dollar cash 16 Bar Challenge.
MC Serge made a futile attempt to deflect attention from Love's very serious and potentially ego-damaging challenge. MC Serge told Chad Love he needed to learn more about Black Culture. Chad Love retorted with the statement, 'Ok Serge, since you have so much knowledge of hip-hop Serge, what does it stand for'? MC Serge had no answer. Chad Love looked straight into the camera and tells Serge that hip-hop stands for His Israeli People, His Oppressed People.
Chad Love has truly turned this 'no reality' pilot into possibly one of the greatest reality TV pilots ever created.
At this time, we do not know if this show is going to air or be filed away with several other pilots' shows that never make it to air.
