NEW YORK, NY (Atlantic Records) - Melisma/Atlantic recording artist
Rob Thomas and Atlantic recording artist
Jewel have unveiled plans to team up for what is sure be the hottest ticket of the Summer. The major North American trek will see the two multi-platinum superstars sharing concert stages from coast-to-coast. The seven-week itinerary is slated to kick off on May 23rd at Clearwater, Florida's Ruth Eckerd Hall. (tour itinerary below)
Grammy winner Rob Thomas' debut solo album, "...SOMETHING TO BE," is now in its 50th week on the Billboard 200. The No 1-charting set includes the hit singles "Lonely No More," "This Is How A Heart Breaks," and "Ever The Same." Jewel's eagerly awaited new album, "GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND," will be released on May 2nd. Her first collection in three years, it features the lead-off hit single, "Again And Again."
Both Thomas and Jewel are celebrating a decade of recording milestones. Jewel made her debut with the February 1995 release of "PIECES OF YOU," which had just passed the platinum mark when Thomas' matchbox twenty released their first album, "YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU," in September 1996. In October 1999, both albums simultaneously earned the RIAA's prestigious Diamond Award for U.S. sales in excess of 10 million units, and both have gone on be certified 12-times platinum.
Opening for Rob and Jewel on the entire tour will be Toby Lightman. A fellow labelmate, Lightman will release her second album, "BIRD ON A WIRE" (Lava/Atlantic) on July 25th.
Rob Thomas' "...SOMETHING TO BE" made chart history upon its release a year ago. The RIAA platinum set entered the Billboard 200 chart at No 1, marking the first time that a male artist from a rock or pop group had debuted at No 1 with their first solo album since Billboard introduced the chart 50 years ago.
The album's first single, the No 1 radio smash, "Lonely No More," went on to hit No 1 in 15 countries around the world and earn a Grammy nomination, as did its follow-up, "This Is How A Heart Breaks." The album's third consecutive hit, "Ever The Same," is currently riding the top 3 at Hot AC radio, while its companion video is in the top ten at VH1.
"GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND," produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls) and Jewel, is Jewel's sixth album since making her recording debut in 1995. Its first single, "Again and Again," is quickly shaping up as another major hit in her extraordinary career. The track has bulleted into the top 20 at Hot AC outlets, while the song's companion video is already in Large rotation at VH1.
"GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND" follows 2003's "0304," which debuted at No 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, simultaneously becoming both the highest-debuting and highest-charting album of her career to date, while also marking her fourth album to hit the top ten on the national charts. "0304" included the top five hit single, "Intuition."
