Miami, FL (GROOVECRAFT PRODUCTIONS) - Sophia Darcell will join the all-star entertainment lineup at AIDS Walk Fort Lauderdale on April 30,, 2006. AIDS Walk Fort Lauderdale is a 10 kilometer fundraising walk-a-thon that raises money for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and other benefiting organizations with HIV/AIDS programs in Broward County. The sultry singer and her international back-up band will show their support and keep the expected 5,000-plus crowd groovin' with their fusion of jazz, rock, funk, and Brit-Soul.

"It's important to bring attention to the Florida HIV/Aids epidemic,' says Darcell. 'Florida ranks third nationally in HIV and AIDs cases, so there is obviously a tremendous need for preventive services.' Darcell knows all the facts thanks to her sister, who operates a non profit organization, Community Case Management, Inc. that provides outreach services, case management, and emergency assistance to those infected with HIV in Dade & Broward counties.

Other acts appearing at AIDS Walk Fort Lauderdale include Deborah Gibson, poet and activist Jessica Care More, the Latin rhythms of Los Doctores, and the Ft. Lauderdale Gay Men's Choir. The event will start and end at Huizenga Plaza in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Sophia Darcell's newest album 'Soul Eclectic'- a sophisticated, sensual soundscape of sexy uptempo and downtempo ethnic R&B grooves - will be released on June 29,2006, on the GrooveCraft Productions record label. The single 'They Love Like That' was released in March, is already in rotation on over 25 internet radio stations, and has reached No 1 on the charts at ArtistLaunch.com. Darcell has been featured on FreeWorldRadio.com and will appear in the UK magazine LoveSexy Magazine this spring. She is currently touring the Southeast in support of the album, backed by her dapper band including Eric Escanes (guitar), Charles Silva (percussion), Dave Gabillet (drums), Kenneth Williams (bass) and Juan Pau (keyboards).
