SAN FRANCISCO, CA. (SFAE) - GRAMMY winning master guitarist Laurence Juber - a member of
Paul McCartney & Wings from 1978 until they disbanded in 1981 - is set to perform a special evening of acoustic music at San Francisco Art Exchange (SFAE) the evening of Friday, May 12. Known to his fans as "LJ," Juber's appearance kicks off the closing weekend of "Each One Believing: The Tour," an exhibition of color and black & white photographs shot by Bill Bernstein during Paul McCartney's historic 2002-2003 world tour.
Limited edition prints of all 46 images are signed by both McCartney and Bernstein, and anyone purchasing one of these extraordinary photographs between now and May 12 will receive an invitation to return to SFAE for Juber's intimate private performance. "Each One Believing: The Tour," which comes down May 14, marks the Northern California debut of these images, and only the second time they've been exhibited in the United States. They premiered at London's Sony Ericsson Proud Central gallery in 2004 to coincide with the publication of Chronicle Books' "Each One Believing: Onstage, Off Stage and Backstage." The book and exhibition grew out of an ongoing collaboration between Paul McCartney and Bill Bernstein, who's been allowed unprecedented photographic access to the superstar over the last fifteen years.
L.A.-based Laurence Juber was a young musician living in London, England when Paul McCartney hand picked him to become Wings' lead guitarist. Juber spent three years recording and touring the world with the band, and during that time he also won a Best Rock Instrumental GRAMMY for the track "Rockestra" from the Wings album "Back To The Egg." Post-Wings, Juber has pursued an acclaimed solo career and is renowned internationally as a guitar virtuoso. While best known for his phenomenal acoustic work - he's widely regarded as one of the top fingerstyle guitarists in the world - he is also a master of electric, classical and 12-string techniques.
Juber's most recent album, 2005's "One Wing," features his elegant interpretations of many of Paul McCartney and Wings' most beloved songs, including "My Love," "Jet," "Band On The Run," "Silly Love Songs" and "Maybe I'm Amazed." His '00 album "LJ Plays The Beatles," featuring fourteen stellar acoustic renditions of Fab Four classics, is a particular favorite among Juber fans, Beatles lovers and aficionados of world class guitar music. LJ's May 12 date at SFAE is certain to heavily pay tribute to all eras of Paul McCartney's legendary career.
