DUBLIN, Ireland (IMRO SHOWCASE TOUR 2006 Official Website) - 'Every band needs a leg up when starting out and the most consistent leg up over the past 15 years has been the IMRO Showcase Tour. I know because I've been involved with the Tour for a long time' Dave Fanning, RTÉ 2fm.

One of Ireland's hottest new band showcases, The IMRO Showcase Tour, returns this May with a series of shows across the country. Over the years the tour has established itself as one of the premier opportunities for emerging bands to showcase to record companies and the music media here in Ireland and the UK.

'The Tour has been instrumental in helping secure recording and management contracts for a number of the bands who have participated on the Tour', states Keith Johnson, Marketing Manager at IMRO. 'A spot on the Tour is one of the most sought after gigs on the Irish Music calendar each year with profiled acts receiving a chance to play to key industry figures and larger audiences - a much needed thing for any struggling new band.'

2006 is significant year for the Tour, with it now entering its 15th year on the road. Over the years many new Irish acts have played some of their first shows at the IMRO showcase nights. Recent acts to appear on the tour include Declan O'Rourke (V2), The Marshals (Faction Records / Universal), La Rocca (Chrysalis Music), The Flaws (Universal), 8 Ball (Lakota Records), Leya (Rubyworks), Mainline (Loog Records UK) and The Immediate (Fantastic Plastic Records UK).

The 2006 Tour consists of a series of gigs around the country, with Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Belfast, Galway and Dundalk among the featured destinations followed by a 'Best of Tour' showcase in Dublin.

The 2006 Tour is fully supported by RTÉ 2fm through the Dave Fanning, Dan Hegarty, Jenny Huston and Cormac Battle evening shows.
