High School Musical" has been certified triple platinum by the R.I.A.A. The CD currently is No 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart with 181,350 units scanned for last week. The album experienced a 10% sales increase this week and continues its extraordinary sales growth for the twelfth consecutive week. According to Soundscan, the "
High School Musical" soundtrack has moved to the No 1 position on the 2006 Year To Date Album chart for the week ending April 9. Scans to date are reported at 1,309,790 units.
Additionally, this week "High School Musical" continues its reign at No 1 on both the Billboard Soundtrack Chart (a position it has held for nine out of the past eleven weeks) and the Billboard Kids Chart (where it has topped the chart for twelve weeks in a row). "High School Musical" first reached the No 1 position on Billboard's Top 200 the week of February 26, seven weeks after its release and reclaimed the No 1 spot on March 22.
"High School Musical" has generated one platinum single, "Breaking Free," and four gold singles - "What I've Been Looking For," "We're All in This Together," "Start of Something New" and "Get'cha Head in the Game," the B5 version produced by producers Andrew Lane and Eddie Galan.
"High School Musical," a contemporary musical comedy, has aired ten times (January 20-March 24) on Disney Channel. Over the course of its ten telecasts, "High School Musical" has delivered 34 million unique Total Viewers, 18.8 million Households, 10.0 million Kids 6-11 and 10.5 million Tweens 9-14.
The "High School Musical" Dance Along and Sing Along presentation will air on April 21 (8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The "High School Musical" DVD and "High School Musical Special Edition Soundtrack" both are scheduled for release on May 23.
