The Eels Australian 2006 Tour Announced!

Sydney, AU (Universal Music Australia) - The most celebrated theatre outing of 2005 was without doubt, Eels with Strings. The ambitious and captivating event saw the genius that is Mark 'E' Everett backed by a stunning string ensemble playing Eels' finely crafted tunes to packed audiences across Australia. It once again proved that The Eels simply refuse to be pigeon-holed. Amazing as those shows were in their sheer beauty and intricacy, E promised us that one day soon the band would ROCK again...and ROCK they will...with no strings attached!

You never know what to expect at an Eels concert. One year it's vocoders and synthesizers and the next it's gritty garage rock. None of this is designed for the sake of versatility so much as it is answering the deep-rooted creative needs of E.

E has always been fascinated with off kilter arrangements, slightly left-of-centre instrumentation and an aesthetic that's always sounded like it spent time locked in a box of medicated toys. Maybe it's the simple, slightly rumpled grey suit that E wears, as if he's been coaxed out of mourning in the shadows of some lonely, book filled house.

With so many different personas surrounding E it's about time we were treated to a good old fashioned Eels rock show. Back to basics, hearing all our Eels favourites with distorted guitar, pounding drums and the raucous applause of satisfied fans.
The Eels will bring the rock to Australia in July to not only promote their brand new live album Live At Town Hall but to also wrap up their world tour for their epic Blinking Lights And Other Revelations.
