Bellingham, WA (www.tusktusk.com) - The Walrus, one of the Pacific Northwest's favorite classic rock bands, will entertain at the Ski to Sea Festival here on Sunday, May 28.
Bellingham's rockin' sea mammals are slated to take the stage in historic Fairhaven at 3 p.m. Sunday at the 'It All Ends in Fairhaven' festivities, following the annual 85-mile relay race. The Walrus' classic rock music (www.tusktusk.com) has been a favorite at past Ski to Sea Festivals, and the band's original music and cover tunes are sure to delight fans of all ages this weekend at Bellingham's biggest community and outdoor event.
The five seasoned professionals who make up The Walrus have been energizing nightclubs, community festivals, weddings and private parties in western Washington with classic rock music since the band formed 10 years ago.
The band's vocally rich and intricate arrangements include original tunes from a CD to be released later this year as well as cover songs by the Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Manhattan Transfer, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt, the Hollies and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Because all band members are talented singers, the Walrus can perform songs most cover bands would never think of even trying live, such as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," always a crowd pleaser.
The Walrus includes singer and keyboardist Jamie Shea; drummer Michael O'Neal; lead guitarist and vocalist Joe Young; singer and guitarist Chuck Dingee; and bassist Walt Burkett.
The Ski to Sea Festival includes the annual Ski to Sea Race, a rugged seven-leg relay race from Mount Baker to Bellingham Bay, a hometown parade on Saturday and other outdoor events. 'It All Ends in Fairhaven' is a free street party from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in historic Fairhaven with live bands, food, crafts and a beer garden, sponsored by the Fairhaven Association.
