BURBANK, CA. (Brian Bumbery/ Warner Bros. Records Publicity/ www.headautomatica.com) - Warner Bros. Records'
Head Automatica will release their sophomore album, "Popaganda," on June 6th. The anthemic first single and video from the record is "Graduation Day." The clip, directed by Tony Petrossian, hearkens back to the '80s era John Hughes genius - breaking down and demystifying high school cliques and classifications, while looking towards the future.
Head Automatica is Daryl Palumbo (vocals, live instrumentation) Jessie Nelson (keyboards), Jarvis Morgan Holden (bass), Larry Gorman (drums) and Craig Bonich (guitar). The band creates music that boasts soaring hooks and melodic, memorable songs from start to finish.
"We're an electronic cock-rock band, so you're going to get a good show and it's going to sound stellar," says Palumbo, who was the frontman of hardcore stalwarts Glassjaw. "'Popaganda' is more musical than anything I've ever embarked on in my life. It's very melodic - we're drawing a lot from the Beatles-era backbeat sound, as well as the mod-revival of the late '70s."
MTV added "Graduation Day" today to both MTV and MTV2 and the band will be featured in MTV's "Discover and Download" program where new talent is cultivated and embraced. The video has also graduated to Magna Cum Laude rotation at mtvU. "Graduation Day" is currently in rotation on Fuse, and the band will be at the Fuse studios on June 13th appearing live on "Daily Download" and pre-taping a performance on "Steven's Untitled Rock Show."
Head Automatica will also be prominently featured in the July issue of Alternative Press and grace the covers of Chord and Angst Magazine this summer. In the digital realm, the band will be premiering their album with an exclusive listening party on MySpace.com the weekend of June 2nd, and incendiary performances from the band will go up on Rolling Stone Originals on RollingStone.com and Live at Launch, the music destination of Yahoo! next month.
