NEW YORK, NY (Virgin Records) - With dozens of sell-out headline gigs completed and more headlining tour dates newly scheduled, and with radio/video play mounting, the question is: where isn't Virgin rock band 30 SECONDS TO MARS?
"A Beautiful Lie" is moving its way up the Billboard charts while the latest single, "The Kill," is making its way up the radio charts. "The Kill," the new single from their album, has become an instant fixture in the nightly top 5 at 9 countdown on Los Angeles' modern rock radio leader KROQ. The brilliant video for "The Kill" is in Elite 8 rotation on MTV2 and reached the No 1 spot on the network. The group has taped an appearance on MTV2's program "T-Minus Rock" which is running daily throughout this week. 30 SECONDS TO MARS is also performing at the MTV2 "All That Rocks Award Show," taping July 6th at New York's legendary CBGB's. On FUSE, "The Kill" is currently a top 10 video. The band recently performed a live acoustic set on their "Daily Download" program which will re-air on June 15th. Also, an interview on "Steven's Untitled Rock Show" will air Tuesday July 11th at 7:00PM.
New headline shows and three festival appearances are scheduled, including a mid-June Louisville, KY date at the World Series of Video Games, a July 14th Denver, CO appearance on the Dew Action Sports Tour, two Warped Tour dates, and Lollapalooza on August 5th in Chicago.
"The Kill" video, directed by newcomer Bartholomew Cubbins, was ranked No 1 in the Hot 5 Videos on MTV.com for two weeks upon video release and was also No 1 on FUSE's Oven Fresh. 30 SECONDS TO MARS' second Virgin album, "A Beautiful Lie," was released in August 2005. "Leto and his band make the kind of anthemic rock 'n' roll you'll want to turn up deafeningly loud on the car stereo while you're driving too fast down country roads. The kind of music you can imagine a million teens swapping spit to - sensitive without being sappy, with both a backbone and a vulnerability to it," raved Dazed and Confused, at the time of its release.
