LONDON, UK (Radio 1) - Pop Idol winner Will Young is due to appear on Top of the Pops after his record company and the BBC resolved a dispute over his performance.
Last week he became the first number one artist available to play not to be featured on the programme after the row between record company, BMG, and the BBC.

Both sides have now reached an agreement to allow the singer to make an appearance in the studio. Young will pre-record one song, Evergreen, from his double A-side single on Thursday and the performance will be broadcast on Friday's show.
But he will be seen twice as the video for Anything Is Possible will be shown during the show.

Will YoungLast week BMG had insisted Young perform both songs from the single live or not appear at all. But the BBC said it did not want to have to devote a quarter of the programme to Young.

On Thursday Top of the Pops executive producer Chris Cowey, said: "Everyone concerned is very happy with the outcome, and despite some bitching via the press, we're all still friends."

BMG's Nigel Sweeney added: "Will can't wait to perform on Top Of The Pops this week and to celebrate his second week at number one with his fans."
Young is due to film the performance just hours before he appears with the other Pop Idol finalists at Wembley Arena, the first show of a 21-date nationwide tour.

The 18,000 tickets for the first two Wembley shows were snapped up just two and a half hours after going on sale.
The show, which will also feature Gareth Gates and the eight other Pop Idol finalists, takes place with Gareth's single about to be released.

Good friends

Gates will perform a duet with fellow finalist Zoe Birkett at Wembley Arena. The pair have insisted they are just good friends, despite rumours of a romance between them after Gareth's emotional response when Zoe was voted off the show.
Other familiar faces performing on the tour will be Jessica Garlick, now the UK's Eurovision entry, Rosie Ribbons and Darius Danesh.

The show will visit Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle before ending with a special Royal Command performance on 6 April. The Pop Idol crew will perform in front of the Prince of Wales at the concert, given in aid of The Prince's Trust.
Will Young is also set to sing for members of the Royal Family and the public at a Buckingham Palace concert to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee on 3 June. Will's double A-side Evergreen/Anything Is Possible looks likely to stay at number one for a third week and the record has sold some 1.5 million copies to date.

Gates' debut, Unchained Melody, is released on Monday - after pre-orders of more than 1.3 million, even higher than Young's pre-release sales. The singer looks certain to repeat Will's feat of having a number-one record with his first release.
