NEW YORK (Good Records Recordings) - THE POLYPHONIC SPREE will return to the stage in September for two weeks of U.S. tour dates, including five West Coast performances supporting Hasidic reggae star Matisyahu. The 20-plus-member band will also headline shows in Los Angeles, Austin and their hometown of Dallas. This marks The Polyphonic Spree's first U.S. tour since a brief run in February 2005. Support on the three headline dates will come from Pilotdrift (both Texas dates) and Philip E Karnats (all three headline dates), both of whom are signed to Good Records Recordings, the label founded and operated by Spree leader/founder Tim DeLaughter and his wife Julie Doyle.

The Polyphonic Spree spent much of early 2006 recording its third album, tentatively titled THE FRAGILE ARMY. Co-produced by John Congleton (of Dallas band The Paper Chase) and The Speekers (aka DeLaughter and Doyle), the album was recorded in studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and Duncanville, Texas, as well as renowned producer Steve Albini's Electrical Audio studio in Chicago. No release date has been set, but the album is expected to be in stores sometime in 2007. Fans can get a look inside the recording process via the band's studio blog at . Most of the album's songs will be performed by the full band for the first time ever on the September tour, as the album was recorded in separate sessions by each instrumental section of the group.

Meanwhile, a digital EP is expected in September to coincide with the tour. THE POLYPHONIC SPREE 2006 TOUR DATES
