NEW YORK (Nacional Records) - Fueled By Brazilian Girls/Kevin Johansen's New Bilingual Cover of Talking Heads' "Crosseyed & Painless", Album Recently Hit No 1 on eMusic and No 15 on iTunes During Digital Pre-Sale Period; CD Version of Album Now In Stores!

Re-issue of Groundbreaking Benefit Album Includes Five New Bonus Tracks (Including Brazilian Girls/Kevin Johansen, Nortec Collective, Thievery Corporation, Kinky & Plastilina Mosh) As Well As Remastered Tracks From the Original 1997 Release

"The reissue of this 1997 AIDS benefit pairs English- and Spanish-language acts: a Mex-Tex polka by Café Tacuba and David Byrne, a Latin-ska version of "What's New Pussycat?" by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Fishbone, a collaboration between Aterciopelados and Laurie Anderson. Bonus tracks spotlight progressive newcomers (Kinky, Nortec Collective). A perfect soundtrack for your next immigration rally." -ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

"It was a visionary project in its bold pairings of Latino and non-Latino artists.....A particular highlight was — and remains — the funky/giddy take on the old Tom Jones hit "What's New Pussycat?" that brought together the Argentine band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and the American party-time funk-punks Fishbone. [New bonus tracks including] Kinky's "Sister Twisted" and "Crosseyed and Painless," the album-closing workout starring Brazilian Girls and Kevin Johansen, is a keeper, with its cinematic, atmospheric grandeur and a can't-sit-down dancefloor groove." -ALLMUSIC.com

"The music industry's Red Hot Organization issued a series of fantastically eclectic compilations in the '90s to raise money for AIDS research....But perhaps the best remains Silencio=Muerte: Red Hot + Latin, in which rock en espanol performers were paired with their English-language counterparts." -FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM

The just-released 10 year anniversary reissue 'Red Hot & Latin Redux' is winning early critical praise, with Entertainment Weekly calling it the "perfect soundtrack for your next immigration rally." Fueled by strong early radioplay and online support, "Red Hot & Latin Redux" (Nacional Records) recently debut as the No 1 overall album on eMusic (second biggest digital download site) and No 15 on iTunes Top Latin Albums chart during the album's digital pre-release. The first single, Brazilian Girls' & Kevin Johansen's bilingual take on Talking Heads' "Crosseyed and Painless," has already been added by such influential stations as KCRW, XM Café, Indie 103, KEXP, WXPN, and KPFA. Nic Harcourt at KCRW in Los Angeles has made the album one of his official summer pledge drive selections.

In celebration of the ten year anniversary of 'Red Hot & Latin', Nacional Records has brought back the ahead-of-its-time compilation and reissued it as 'Red Hot & Latin Redux' with brand new bonus tracks from some of today's most cutting-edge Latin Alternative artists like Brazilian Girls w/Kevin Johansen, Thievery Corporation, Nortec Collective, Kinky and Plastilina Mosh. 'Red Hot & Latin Redux' also features remastered tracks from the original release such as groundbreaking bilingual collaborations between David Byrne/Café Tacuba, Fishbone/Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Los Lobos/Money Mark and Laurie Anderson/Aterciopelados.

Silencio=Muerte: Red Hot & Latin, originally released in 1997 on Jellybean Benitez' H.O.L.A Recordings, was the tenth album in the Red Hot series created to fund the fight against AIDS in Latin America and the Latino community. The pairing of artists like David Byrne and Café Tacuba reflected a cultural encounter far ahead of its time that continues to provide a music-without-language-barriers soundtrack for the multi-cultural American experience. When 'Red Hot & Latin' was originally released, the album was the subject of an MTV special that received widespread critical praise and aired worldwide.

Profits generated by Red Hot & Latin Redux will go to the Red Hot Organization to continue fighting AIDS in the U.S. Latino community and in Latin America.
