NEW YORK (Escapi Music) - It has been confirmed that Dissection lead singer Jon Nodtveidt has died by his own hand on August 16. Police on that day found the longtime metal icon and avowed Satanist shot dead in his apartment in Sweden. >"We regret to have lost a great musician and friend and will continue to work with the Dissection projects we have started to do our best to promote and support the music of Dissection and Jon. We wish to extend our condolences to both Jon's family and close friends, his band members as well as to all his fans out there." states Peter Anneroth/CEO Escapi Music.

Dissection reformed in 2004 after 11 years, mostly due to the imprisonment of leader Nodtveidt on a murder charge. With Set Teitan on guitar and Tomas Asklund on drums, Nodveidt, on guitar and vocals, wrote, over the course of a year, what would become the band's final album, Reinkaos. Previous albums in the band's catalog include 1993's The Somberlain and 1995's Storm Of The Light's Bane.

On August 1 2006, Escapi Music released Rebirth of Dissection, a DVD which includes the band's triumphant sold-out return show. The 90-minute performance is accompanied by the last known interview ever given by Nodtveidt.
