Music Australia) - The Grates headline show at the Tivoli in Brisbane on Friday, October 6th is officially SOLD OUT. The Sydney and Melbourne shows are expected to follow suit this week.
It is the second time the Brisbanites have sold out the home town 1600 capacity venue. The Grates are also pleased to welcome fellow Brisbanians, Violent Soho, as the first on support for the East Coast shows (excluding Melbourne and Adelaide). New Rules for Boat and The Silents join The Grates on stage in Western Australia, and the Central Deli Band join Faker and The Grates in Melbourne and Adelaide.
The Grates are also excited at the announcement they have been nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist – Album at the 2006 ARIA Awards.
'Seriously we are so excited about being nominated that if we win we will shoot ourselves in the head. That will be the best moment of our lives, so we'll just have to end it then! ' said singer Patience Hodgson.
The Grates are currently on tour in the USA in support of their debut album release through Dew Process/Cherrytree/Interscope. Their hectic touring schedule has continued throughout the year since their infectious LP, 'Gravity Won't Get You High' debuted in the ARIA Top Ten and secured releases in the UK, USA, Canada, France and New Zealand. The band recently played to a packed out crowd at V Festival in the UK and sold out their London shows well in advance.
The Grates Science is Golden Tour marks their biggest headline performances yet. It is the last time the band will be touring in Australia in support of 'Gravity Won't Get You High' due to international commitments.
