NEW YORK (MTV Tr3s) - Signaling it's commitment to bring together artists most popular among young Latinos, MTV Tr3s, the new bilingual channel from MTV, launched this week with a concert direct from Times
Square that featured
Nelly Furtado and
Calle 13 in a first-ever LIVE performance of the song "Me Da Igual." Furtado performed her worldwide hit "
Promiscuous" and
Calle 13 let loose on their emerging hits "¡Atrévete Te, Te!" and "Se Vale To-To." MTV Tr3s also debuted its new signature show, MiTRL, which included the World Premiere live performance by
Alejandro Sanz of "
A La Primera Persona" his new single from his upcoming CD along with the World Premiere of "Tu Recuerdo," Ricky Martin's first video from his recently recorded "
MTV Unplugged".
"Having artists like Nelly Furtado and Calle 13 share the same stage is what MTV Tr3s all about... a place where artists and audience can enjoy the magic of taking risks and celebrate the magic of the U.S. Latino culture," said Jose Tillán, MTV Tr?s Senior Vice President, Music Programming and Talent Strategy. "Both artists delivered very strong performances, captivating the heart of New York City in a big way."
Tillán has created on MTV Tr3s music programming themes that include blocks, specials, concerts, video countdowns and artist's picks that feature everything from rock to reggaeton and everything in between. "Latino youth have told us they want a channel that reflects their diverse taste in music and that showcases their favorite Latin and American artists, "he says.
"MTV Tr3s is committed to promoting and breaking the next generation of U.S. Latino artists. Established and up-and-coming artists have all responded with enthusiasm," added Tillán. "New artists such as Allison, Tres Coronas, Jeannie Ortega, Jeremias, and Mario Vasquez, along with established artist like Paulina Rubio, Maná, Shakira and Juanes are excited to partner with MTV Tr3s to create this channel specifically for U.S. Latinos."
MTV Tr3s viewers will be able to get their day started with Cortadito (Monday-Friday, 6 AM), watch non-stop videos from Shakira to Sean Paul on Videorama (Monday-Friday, 9 AM), chill with Latin classic videos during ClassicCo (Monday-Friday, 12 PM) or rock-out during ¡Rock! (Monday-Friday, 1 PM). Late night and party weekend video programming includes Videosomnia (Monday-Friday, 2 AM) and V.P.M. (Fridays at 10 PM).
