New York, NY (CITY CANYONS RECORDS) - City Canyons Records, an independent label based in New York City, announced today the special limited release of Jen Elliott and Bluestruck's long awaited full length sophomore album, 8 Days Down on October 3, 2006 with national distribution to follow on November 7.
To get a full picture of Jen's music, envision The Rolling Stones meet The Ronettes with Bonnie Raitt and Annie Lenox joining in on vocals-all of this seasoned by a dash of edgy contemporary alternative rock and a spicy spoonful of wicked gospel. Her live performances are charisma-packed. She's a soulful rocker with a powerful alto voice, hip phrasing, and a seductive energy, ably supported by her remarkable backing band, Bluestruck..
Jen was raised on church music as a child and she still writes and sings straight from her soul-but now, it's rock 'n' roll that is her first love. She was born in Texas and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and now calls New York City her home. In 2003, she had the opportunity to sign with up-and-coming indie record label City Canyons Records. A few short months later, the label released her debut album The Secret's Out. The album received Top 30 college radio airplay and critical acclaim by the press nationally and internationally.
Jen has been featured in issues of Entertainment Today, The Downtown Express, The Sun Herald, Inside Connection and Keyboard Magazine. To date, the band has performed at the Black Potatoe Festival 2005, NY Auto Show 2005, GoGirls Elite Showcase 2004, headlined at the Global Entertainment & Media Summits 2003/2004, and performed at MEANY Fest 2003 as well as performing at venues in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut. Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida. Jen and Bluestruck have also opened for the likes of Nils Lofgren, The Little River Band, and Nine Days. Her EP, "this damn song," was released by City Canyons Records on April 4th 2006 as a prequel to 8 DAYS DOWN. The release of the new full length album will be supported by a tour of the east coast and full scale radio promotion on college, independent and Triple A radio together with a national press campaign handled by a team of crack publicists.
