LOS ANGELES (Capitol Records) - On November 8th,
Bob Seger & The
Silver Bullet Band will launch their first concert tour in 10 years at Van Andel
Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee announced the tour on "Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday, where he performed "Wreck This Heart," a rousing rocker from his new album, Face The Promise, which debuted at No 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart, marking Seger's highest chart debut ever.
Seger has been renowned for his live shows for decades -- a point underscored by the fact that his first commercial breakthrough was not a studio album but 1976's Live Bullet, a double live album that has sold over 5 million copies.
"Seger offers more dead-on renderings of his Michigan-sired rock as though it's the hottest new style in town, burning significant rubber on 'Wreck This Heart' and ascending to heights of dashboard eloquence on 'Wait for Me" .... Seger fearlessly remains Seger," said Rolling Stone. The New York Times observed, "Mr. Seger gets back in the game and sounds as if he hasn't lost a step."
Indeed, Seger is in top form, already scoring a No 1 Classic Rock radio hit with first single "Wait for Me" and launching the album with a trio of television appearances, beginning with his first-ever national television performance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" followed by "Letterman" and "The View."
While Face The Promise reaffirms Seger's place as one of rock's master storytellers, the perennial success of his 1994 Greatest Hits -- currently No 2 on Billboard's pop catalog chart and a Top 10 seller for the past 12 years - reminds us that songs such as "Night Moves," "Turn The Page," "Old Time Rock & Roll," "Against The Wind" and "Mainstreet" are truly timeless.
