Creed cancels tour after frontman's injury

LOS ANGELES, California (Creed Fans Site) - One of the biggest-selling acts in rock music this year--- the band Creed -- is canceling the rest of its North American tour because the group's lead singer was injured in a car accident.

Steve Karas, a spokesman for the band, said frontman Scott Stapp's body absorbed a 60 mph impact when his car was struck by another vehicle in his hometown of Orlando, Florida. Karas would not say when the accident occurred.

Stapp is not currently in the hospital but has been advised by medical professionals to cancel the tour. In a press release, the band called the decision "regrettable, but necessary."

The band was scheduled to begin the second North American leg of its "Weathered Tour" Monday night in Fargo, North Dakota. The cancellation affects 20 dates through May 31 in Selma, Texas. No makeup dates have been announced.

All tickets for performances can be refunded at the point of purchase.

Creed's latest album, "Weathered," has sold more than 5 million copies and has been certified five times platinum since its release early this year. "Weathered" tied the record for most consecutive weeks at No. 1 after debuting at that spot 22 weeks ago.

The album is currently listed at No. 38 on the US Album chart.
