Boston, MA (AMERICAS MUSICWORKS) - The Boston-based duo "2" (Peter H. Bloom, flute and alto flute; Mary Jane Rupert, piano) will perform
Music of American Women Composers October 20 through 24, at 4 concert locations (WV, MD, PA, and OH). The concert will include the magnificent but seldom-heard Sonata in A Minor Opus 34 (1896) by Amy Beach, Marion Bauer's Sonata for Viola and Piano Opus 22 (transcribed for alto flute), "Masks" by Katherine Hoover (inspired by Native American and African American masks), and
Elizabeth Vercoe's "Kleemation" (2003), inspired by drawings of Paul Klee.
