LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - Eddie Van Halen checked in with fans on Van Halen's official Web site on Tuesday (May 7) to give an update on his medical condition.

"I wanted to let you all know that I've just gotten a 100 percent clean bill of health - from head to toe," he says. "I wanted to share the good news with you immediately. And of course, I thank you all for all your good wishes and prayers along the way. Now it's time to really get back to the music and fun ? so party on and you'll be hearing from us very soon."

Van Halen has battled cancer - reportedly of the tongue - for the past two years. His health problems are said to be one reason why there has been little movement musically in the Van Halen camp since the band's last studio album, Van Halen 3, in 1998 (and the fact that they currently do not have a singer, either).

In related Van Halen family tree news, Sammy Hagar & the Waboritas will welcome a few special guests onstage for their A Night at the Cabo Wabo show at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco on Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson for Hagar, the Red Rocker will be joined for a little jam session by Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, as well as Metallica's Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich.

If you're in the area, tickets were still available through Ticketmaster at press time.
