BURBANK, CA (Sire Records) - British punk-pop trio The Subways took home the "International Woodie" at Wednesday night's third annual mtvU Woodie Awards in New York City. The Woodie Awards honor college students' favorite emerging artists and music, with the International Woodie recognizing the voting public's favorite international artist of the year. Excited by the win, the band responded in kind: "We'd like to send a heartfelt 'Thank You,' to all our American fans for their generous support. It means a lot to us to feel this welcomed so far from home. We love our fans and we look forward to seeing you all again next year with a brand new album and tour. Hey, thanks for giving us a Woodie!"

Hailed by NME as "the sexiest thing to sweep rock 'n roll off its feet in years," The Subways released their critically acclaimed debut album "YOUNG FOR ETERNITY" in 2005. Following the band's in-concert introduction to American audiences performing the hit single, "Rock & Roll Queen" on the international TV phenomenon "THE OC" last November, The Subways enjoyed a whirlwind of TV appearances and sold-out shows across the states. After seeing the band's frenetic live show, USA Today succinctly enthused: "The Subways come by their charming chemistry naturally: The trio has an irrepressible garage-rock energy, rare sweetness and unabashed confidence."

The Subways will soon return to the studio to record their sophomore album to be released in 2007 with a US tour to follow. Expect an update soon!
