
NEW YORK (By Serena Gallagher/ Universal Republic Records) - On the heels of the band's first US Gold album, HIM continues to swell their ever-expanding fanbase and their brilliant catalog of music and videos. Amassing legions of US fans thanks to Bam Margera and MTV, the popularity of HIM's uncommon brand of 'love metal' continues to grow with constant touring and word-of-mouth buzz.
HIM's new release, Uneasy Listening Vol. 1, which hits stores November 14, is a collection of previously unreleased versions of the band's classic tracks. This special compilation includes rarities and hard-to-find versions of the biggest hits. The album includes acoustic, live, remixed and alternate recordings of 'Join Me In Death', 'The Sacrament', 'Buried Alive By Love' and a dozen more favorites from Finland's famed goth rockers.
The band's singer Ville Valo explains, 'Most of these versions are hard to find nowadays. Fans have frequently been asking us where to find these songs. The songs are also important to the band. They are songs that have allowed us to express our musical perversions.'
Uneasy Listening Vol. 1 will feature the sentimental side of HIM, while a second volume planned for release in 2007 will focus on the harder side of the band. Vol. 1 focuses on ballads and all versions of have been selected by Valo.
'Vol. 1 is music for Sunday mornings whereas Vol. 2 is for Saturday nights,' says Valo.
"Join Me In Death (Strongroom Mix)" will be the lead track from the album serviced to radio stations and video outlets nationwide. "Join Me In Death" was the band's biggest international hit ever, hitting No 1 on numerous international charts and driving album sales to Gold and Platinum around the world.
To complement the new album release, the band will also release on November 14 Love Metal Archives Vol. 1, the definitive compilation of videos and live performances covering the band's first albums. This comprehensive DVD collection includes all the band's promotional videos, dozens of rare live performances, photo galleries, interviews and more.
In just the past two years, HIM's complete catalog has sold over 1 million units in the US. Highlighted by the band's recognizable 'heartagram' logo, HIM's merchandise continues to be one of the hottest selling in America among music artists. The heartagram is also one of the most popular tattoo designs in recent years.
