NEW YORK (NY NewsStar) - While Sheryl Crow is currently enjoying success with her latest album, C'mon C'mon, there was a time during the making of it where she wasn't even sure it was what she wanted to do. She tells that midway through the process, a visit in the studio from the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde helped Crow find some necessary perspective. "I was telling her what was going on and she was saying, 'Well, what do you want to do?' And I said, 'Well, in a perfect world, I'd just like to walk away and take time off or whatever.' And she said, 'Well, why don't you do that?' And I said, 'Well, I feel like I'm gonna lose the momentum of Live From Central Park and all the work I've done.' And she said, 'You know, what you need to remember is that music is not your life, it's something that you do. Your life is your life and if you walk away from it you can always come back to music. It will always be a part of you, but it isn't your life,'" she says. Crow tells that the timing couldn't have been better. "It really resonated with me at that time because I think I had relied on music to be a giant band-aid, it's also been my sanctuary, it's been the thing that's given me self-worth, for me it's a reflection of who I am, and I really needed to make it less of a god or less important to me to want to do it. And so I got away from it for a lengthy time, and by the time I got back to finishing the record I wanted to be there." C'mon C'mon remains in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 album sales chart for its third consecutive week. The release features the single "Soak Up The Sun."
