Ozzy & Ricky to play for the Queen

LONDON, UK (Radio 1) -Wild rock star Ozzy Osbourne, who once bit the head off a live bat on stage, has been added to the bill for the Queen's Jubilee pop concert at Buckingham Palace.
The heavy metal legend was invited to play after enjoying a remarkable revival with a fly-on-the-wall TV show about his life. He will appear on the same stage as Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Paul McCartney and Pop Idol winner Will Young in the palace gardens on Monday 3 June.

Latin singer Ricky Martin has also been added to the bill for the show, which is supposed to reflect the music of the 50 years of the Queen's reign.
Osbourne has enjoyed a renaissance in popularity after a fly-on-the-wall MTV show, The Osbournes, became a cult hit.

It shows the rocker, from Birmingham, sitting around in his underpants, swearing and giving his teenage children advice on sex, drugs and drinking. He has already dined at the White House after being invited by President George Bush.

The concert will be one of the high points of the Jubilee celebrations, and will be broadcast on BBC television as well as on big screens around the UK.
Buckingham Palace has announced full details of the celebrations on the long weekend of 1-4 June. The pop concert will be followed by a huge fireworks display in front of the palace.

A classical prom featuring Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Mstislav Rostropovich and Sir Thomas Allen will take place two days earlier, on Saturday 1 June. Almost two million people entered the ballot for the 24,000 tickets available for the two concerts. More than one million people are expected to turn out for events nationwide, according to organisers.

The leader of the Hell's Angels will take part in the main parade down The Mall on Tuesday, 4 June, which will also include carnival bands, gospel singers, stunt riders and stilt walkers.
