MADRID, Spain (Top40 Charts) - The ceremony took place at the "Palacio Municipal de Congresos de Madrid" and was televised by La2 from TVE that same night.

It also makes us very pleased to share the success of ESTOPA in their visit to Latin America. On the 30th of April in presence of more than 3,200 spectators that packed the "Gran Rex Theater" of Buenos Aires (Argentina), ESTOPA offered the best of their both albums during a show that went on for two hours and in which they made the crowd dance, jump and sing. For sure, they made the audience forget at least for a moment the terrible situation their country is going through.

ESTOPA went on promotional tour the 1st of May to Chile. There they did several interviews that included radio shows, press and recorded two songs ("La raja de tu falda" and "Vino tinto") for the show "Venga Conmigo" that airs on TV 13.

Kick off the "Destrangis" Tour

Sixty four cities in six months; that is the plan for ESTOPA. After the mini tour and the acoustic tour; ESTOPA plans to hit the road with concerts that last two hours and uses a multimedia platform.

Upcoming dates for ESTOPA in Spain:

MAY 17th 2002 / Badajoz Campo de Ftbol El Viejo Vivero
MAY 18th 2002 / Cceres / Recinto Hpico
MAY 19th 2002 / Valladolid / Patio central feria de muestras
MAY 23rd 2002 / Granada / Palacio Municipal de Deportes

Biography

Two years ago, in October of 1999, ESTOPA burst into the musical scene of Spain with their talent and innovative style. Their capacity to turn everyday life into poesy has made them break record sales for a new group.

Their songs have taken Jos Muoz, 22 years old, guitar and vocals, and his brother David Muoz, 25 years old, vocalist, from the factory they used to work at, to the number one in Spanish music they occupy now.

1.300.000 albums sold worldwide (1.200.000 in Spain) of their first album "ESTOPA" means that they have been able to reach every fraction of society.

Aside of the success they have in their homeland, ESTOPA has been able to conquer with their lyrics and music many fans in many parts of the world. Their debut album has been released in 11 countries, in which are included the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, France, Germany, Italy... even Taiwan.

Now ESTOPA comes back with a new album, "Destrangis" (BMG US Latin,) which includes 13 new songs (one of them recorded live). "Destrangis" was recorded between June and September 2001 at the Sonoland studios in Madrid and El Cortijo de Mlaga, with the musical production of Sergio Castillo. Mastering was done at the Metropolis studios in London and under the responsibility of Ian Cooper, who has worked with artists such as Bryan Ferry, David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Peter Gabriel.
