Miami, FL. (www.wagonwheelgang.com) -- Florida based porch music band, The Wagon Wheel Gang, announces the release of their self-titled debut CD.
*CD is now available at www.CDBaby.com/wwg*
To celebrate the release of the CD, The Wagon Wheel Gang will be performing and hosting a party at Miamis oldest and most infamous drinking establishment, Tobacco Road on December 9th, 2006. Sharing the bill at the party will be Miamis favorite rockin country band, the 18 Wheelers, busting out their best truck driving music until the wee hours. There will be another great band downstairs as well making this an un-missable and historic night of raucous singin and drinkin. Plan to come early and stay late, as there will be plenty of surprise guests and on-stage hijinx expected. More news on the CD release party to come.
Headed up my Miami blues drummer, ex-trapeze artist, current banjo player and general odd character, Big Donald Lutton, The Wagon Wheel Gang is an ever-growing, eclectic group of artists from diverse musical backgrounds with the common goal of spreading joy through music. Members of the Wagon Wheel Gang have been known to congregate and perform at picnics, beaches, rodeos, campfires, hootenannies, farms, crowded vehicles on long family trips, docks, porches, barns, back yards, cook outs, ranches, church bazaars, ice cream parlors, bait shops, old folks homes and anyplace the magic of music can be appreciated even if only by the performers themselves.
The full length CD features Big Donald on banjo and drums and over a dozen other fine musicians signing and playing instruments like guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass (upright and washtub), Jews harp, trombone, rub board, ukulele, harmonica and more. Along with seven original songs, the CD features two arrangements of traditional sing-a-longs and an acoustic cover of more modern blues tune. To pigeonhole the recording as an acoustic blues or old-time music experience would not do justice to the hearty nods to the worlds of country, roots and bluegrass that the CD proudly gives. Americana, roots-grass, honky tonk, whatever you want to call it, it is better described as a boot stompin, beer guzzlin party for your ears.
Contributing artists include:
