Laurel, MD (Epmusic) - Jeff Epstein, an acoustic folk-rock musician based in the Baltimore/Washington area, has released his first CD, "It's Not A Fantasy." The album features eight of Epstein's self-composed songs, plus covers of
Paul McCartney & Wings' "
Tomorrow" and Matchbox 20's "Unwell." The style of the music, Epstein says, is similar to that of
James Taylor and Michael Franks, and in some cases The Loud Family.
It's Not A Fantasy
Originally from New York, NY, Epstein, 49, has been writing songs since the age of 8. His first song won him an audition for television's "The Merv Griffin Show." Although he did not appear on the program, he continued songwriting, and has composed over 100 songs.
However, a somewhat shy personality kept Jeff from singing in public. Music was a hobby while he pursued careers in journalism and web development. He did not regularly perform until early 2005, when he returned to songwriting and began singing on the Baltimore/Washington open-mike circuit. Jeff has since appeared at several venues, including Taylor's Pub in Baltimore, MD; IOTA in Arlington, VA; Leadbetter's in Baltimore, MD; The Old Brogue in Great Falls, VA; Gathering Grounds in Westminister, MD; Jammin' Java, in Vienna, VA; and many others.
"It's Not A Fantasy" was produced by Epstein for his own label, Epmusic. Tracks were recorded both in his own Epmusic studio and at the East Coast Bands studio in Potomac, MD. The album is produced and distributed by Epmusic, and will be sold through CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com) and other online retailers, as well as Epstein's Web site, www.jeffepsteinmusic.com.
Epstein expects to increase his live performance schedule in support of the album.
