Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ National Geographic) - National Geographic traveled to Nashville in August 2006 to sit down with country artist Keni Thomas at the Country Music Hall of Fame for an exclusive interview for inclusion in "The Final Report: Blackhawk Down" set for broadcast Monday, January 22, 2007 at 10:00 p.m. ET (9:00 p.m. Central) on the National Geographic Channel. The program will re-air Tuesday, January 23 at 1:00 a.m., and again Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 p.m.

The mission was one of the bloodiest involving US Soldiers since Vietnam. On October 3, 1993 Somali men, women and children armed with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades ambushed the elite units of the U.S. Army's Rangers and Delta Force. What began as an operation to capture warlord Mohammed Farah Aidid became a tragic seventeen-hour firefight that left eighteen Americans dead and eighty-four wounded. This failed operation continues to haunt U.S. military and foreign policy.

National Geographic's The Final Report is a new series that goes beyond the bold news headlines and widely reported stories to reveal a clearer picture of events. From the Jonestown suicides to the Waco tragedy, and from the D.C. sniper to the L.A. riots, the series presents a comprehensive and compelling perspective of events that shook the nation.
