Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Plan R Soundtrax) - The award-winning composer Bear McCreary has joined with Plan R Soundtracks to release the soundtrack to the Warner Bros./ Rawfeed DVD release Rest Stop-Dead Ahead: Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack. McCreary's eclectic album combines dark, orchestral textures with distorted banjos and fiddles, resulting in a uniquely terrifying score. The CD, packed with over 50 minutes of music, includes the complete score as well as McCreary's three original songs. rich, raw, oddly stirring... kick-ass and powerful as hell. Bear McCreary has emerged as one of the most distinct composers in film music with his critically acclaimed score to Sci Fi Channel's smash hit series "Battlestar Galactica." Kevin Smith's Quick Stop Entertainment proclaimed "McCreary astounds with his mastery in connecting the aural to the narrative... this fresh talent could be the vanguard of the next wave of important American composers. He's bringing something new to the field of film composition." E! Online described his Galactica score as "rich, raw, oddly stirring... kick-ass and powerful as hell." McCreary's Battlestar Galactica: Season One soundtrack garnered rave reviews, including ranking in Visions in Sound's and Cinescape's "Top 20 Soundtracks of the Year." The following year, his Battlestar Galactica: Season Two soundtrack album rocketed into Amazon.com's TOP 30 Music Sales on its first day of release, and was chosen as Visions In Sound's "No 1 Soundtrack Album of 2006".

McCreary learned the tools of the trade from his mentor, late film music legend Elmer Bernstein. Bear worked with Bernstein for nearly a decade, including completely reconstructing and re-orchestrating his 1963 score for "Kings of the Sun." McCreary has scored over thirty independent films, including his recent score for Twentieth Century Fox's 2007 release "Wrong Turn 2," starring Henry Rollins.

"I was skeptical of scoring a horror film," McCreary says. "But [Rest Stop director John Shiban let me create a melodic and memorable soundtrack. Horror film fans will never hear a banjo the same way again."

Rest Stop-Dead Ahead:Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack is available from Plan R Soundtracks. The company, founded by industry veterans Maureen Crowe, Chris Woltman and Peter Fletcher, has also released recent soundtracks to the films "We Are Marshall," "Beerfest" and "Unaccompanied Minors."
