SANTA MONICA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ SLG) - 429 Records, a unit of the Savoy Label Group, has hit it big both critically and commercially with "ENDLESS HIGHWAY: THE MUSIC OF THE BAND." "Endless Highway" debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Chart in its first week, marking the highest debut so far for the independent label. Radio has been equally enthusiastic with the project scoring at the adult alternative format with the No 1 slot at R&R's Americana chart and No 2 at FMQB Public Breakout chart.

Founding member and principal songwriter for The Band, Robbie Robertson, commented on "Endless Highway's" debut: "It's wonderful to see The Band's music being celebrated through all these talented artists."

Says Steve Vining, President of the Savoy Label Group: "'Endless Highway' has been a labor of love for everyone at 429 as well as the producers and artists who contributed to the project. We're pleased at the critical and commercial response so far and expect 429 Records is poised for even more success in the adult music space this coming year."

Explaining the success at the adult alternative radio format, Mike Powers from leading San Francisco radio outlet KFOG, noted: "The theme of most tribute albums is to only produce one or two covers that grasp the emotion of the originals. This is one compilation that bucks the trend. With an all-star cast of artists, 'Endless Highway' features 17 tracks of reworked Band classics that flow from start to finish."

One artist garnering some of the best notices off the collection (including Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly) is 429's own Steve Reynolds for his atmospheric interpretation of "Stage Fright." Reynolds is currently recording the follow-up to his 2006 debut, "Exile" for a fall 2007 release. 429 Records is also home to Joan Armatrading, The Young Dubliners, The Roches and the newest signing, Steve Forbert, who will have a new project released this summer.

429 Records is a unit of the Savoy Label Group (SLG). SLG is the North American unit of CME (Columbia Music Entertainment), the oldest music company in Japan. The Savoy Label Group is lead by Steve Vining. CME is headed by Chairman Strauss Zelnick, founder of Zelnick Media. Zelnick Media owns interests in and manages an array of media companies including music-related holdings such as CME, Savoy Label Group and Time Life.
