NEW YORK (Green Day Fans Website) - Green Day's rarities album, Shenanigans, is now set to arrive in stores July 2. The 14-track effort compiles various b-sides, outtakes, and other oddities, among them covers of the Ramones' " Outsider" and the Kinks' "Tired Of Waiting." Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong tells that the Ramones track is his favorite by the legendary punk group. "We just recorded 'Outsider' just because we like the song so much and it's kind of a rare song that kinda got overshadowed by the obvious Ramones hits. But it's my favorite Ramones song of all time. It's just a great song." "Outsider" originally appeared on the 1983 Ramones album, Subterranean Jungle. "[It's] totally a Dee Dee [Ramone] type of song," Armstrong says. Green Day's version also appears on the We're A Happy Family tribute album, due later this year from DV8/Columbia Records. Green Day will follow the release of Shenanigans with an eight-show swing through the U.K., beginning July 11 in Manchester, England.
