LOS ANGELES (Monica Official Website) - R&B singer Monica has finally decided on a title for her recently finished third album. After agonizing over coming up with a proper moniker, she's decided on just Monica. The new album, due Aug. 20 on J Records (home to Alicia Keys, Angie Stone, Busta Rhymes, and others), is described as a "coming of age" album that she co-wrote. "I've never had a self-titled album and since I co-wrote the entire thing, what better timing for one?," she said in a statement released on Thursday (June 27). The first single from the album, the party-themed "All Eyez on Me" (which features part of Michael Jackson's "Pretty Young Thing") is already at R&B radio. Other songs on the album are "Ain't Gonna Cry No More," "Breaks My Heart," "Down 4 Whateva," "Searchin'," "U Should've Known," "I Wrote This Song," and "If U Were the Girl." Album producers and/or songwriters include Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupri, Dallas Austin, and Soulshock & Karlin. Monica follows 1998's The Boy is Mine, featuring the No. 1 hit duet with Brandy on the title track, and 1995's Miss Thang.
