NEW YORK,NY. (Top40 Charts/ Rykodisc) - Rykodisc today announced that the U.S. debut release of popular Australian group Eskimo Joe's chart-topping and multi-award-winning album "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" has been scheduled for August 14, 2007.

Hailing from the land-down-under, Eskimo Joe is one of Oz's most popular music acts today. Their soon-to-be-released stateside debut "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" is an out and out smash in their homeland, having skyrocketed straight to No. 1 upon its release in May 2006. Among their many accolades, the triple-platinum (soon to be quadruple) selling album has earned the band an astonishing seven ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Awards) nominations, four of which were won in the categories of Best Single for the album's title track, Best Producers for their self-production efforts, Best DVD and Best Engineer (Matt Lovell). They also walked away with three WAMIs (West Australian Music Awards), including the award for Best Single. The radio singles "Black Fingernails, Red Wine," "Sarah," and "New York" all charted at Top 40 radio (No 6, No 12 and No 26 respectively). Eskimo Joe has performed in front of crowds of over 40,000 alongside such artists as The Killers, Modest Mouse, Muse, Lily Allen and My Chemical Romance.

Eskimo Joe - A Brief History

Eskimo Joe is Kavyen Temperly (vox/bass), Stuart MacLeod (guitar/backing vocals) and Joel Quartermain (guitar/keys/backing vocals). The trio's formation began in Fremantle in 1997 when the young trio entered the Australian National Campus Band Competition, of which they took home top honors. The grand-prize awarded the band a slot on the annual Livid Festival and time in a recording studio. Out of that recording session came Eskimo Joe's 1998 debut EP "Sweater," which received significant airplay at the influential Australian radio outlet Triple J. In 1998 the band released a second self-titled EP which broke the radio hits, "Ruby Wednesday" and "Turn Up Your Stereo." In 2001 Eskimo Joe released their first full-length album titled "Girl." The album proved to be a Top 40 hit with the singles "Planet Earth" and "Who Sold Her Out" both charting. 2004 brought the band superstardom with the release of the mega-popular sophomore follow-up "A Song Is A City" which reached the No. 2 spot on the Top 40 charts and spawned the hit songs "From the Sea," "Smoke" and "Older Than You." Their third album (and Rykodisc U.S. debut) "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" stayed atop the No. 1 spot for four weeks when it was released in Australia in May 2006. The 12-track recording highlights Temperley's impeccable songwriting and the band's overall expertise with arrangements. From the memorable and haunting keyboard hook of "Comfort You" to the closing piano-tinged melancholy of "How Does It Feel," "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" is a complete listen from start to finish. The album's title track will be the first single at U.S. radio.

Eskimo Joe plan to tour the U.S. in late summer/early Fall in support of their debut release. Be sure to visit www.eskimojoe.net for updated information.
