THE CARNIVAL COMES TO TOWN is a special one-off, all-ages show featuring this country's biggest bands, and will rock Adelaide fans with a spectacular evening of musical antics at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on SATURDAY 9TH of JUNE. With all roads leading to Adelaide this winter, THE CARNIVAL COMES TO TOWN is excited to announce that two of Australia's biggest acts will be stepping into the ring for this exciting event: ESKIMO JOE and JET!
The CARNIVAL COMES TO TOWN welcomes champions of modern day Australian rock'n'roll, JET. Emerging from the urban legend of the Melbourne music scene JET has gone on to create a legend of their very own with the worldwide success of their debut smash Get Born and their much anticipated sophomore album Shine On. With Shine On these masters of raw power and rootsy, swaggering rock have shied away from the focus on fancy haircuts and concentrated on the music to produce polished melodies a-plenty and unexpected punk-rock boogie gems with the likes of 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is' and 'Rip It Up'.
To kick off 2007, JET gave Adelaide fans a live taste of their feisty brand of delta blues and hard rock with blistering performances at the Big Day Out, and in March, they released the third single from the album of the same name, 'Shine On'. JET has not performed a solo show in Adelaide since their mind-blowing show at Memorial Drive in 2004 so don't miss this one-off chance to see them on tour with a stellar line up of Aussie rock including two of the best in the West.
Next up, the CARNIVAL will see ESKIMO JOE take to centre stage. Eight years from the outset these heroes of the West are rocketing into the stratosphere with their third album, Black Fingernails, Red Wine. Following on from 2004's extraordinary double-platinum, ARIA Award-winning A Song is a City, the new LP showcases the band's incredible development and their captivating singles 'Sarah' and 'New York' continue to win the hearts of fans around the country with their epic, grandiose and ethereal pop-rock.
The ESKIES had an extremely happy start to 2007 with their first Top Ten single 'Black Fingernails, Red Wine' coming in at No 2 on the Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown and their ARIA Award winning album, Black Fingernails, Red Wine selling over 250,000 copies. As well as winning two WAMi (West Australian Music Industry) Awards) for Best Commercial Pop Act and Best Single 'Black Fingernails, Red Wine'. These guys are on FIRE and guaranteed to light up the night at THE CARNIVAL COMES TO TOWN!
Get your struttin' shoes on Adelaide and say Hello to Hollywood because next up THE CARNIVAL COMES TO TOWN welcomes another much loved band from the musical hotbed of Perth, LITTLE BIRDY. One hot-to-trot, gutsy, sassy rock'n'roll band, LITTLE BIRDY are set to serve up a scintillating set of their beautiful dark melodies and taut, firecracker rock'n'roll straight from the heart. After the massive success of the hot 'This Is A Love Song EP' and 2004's now five time ARIA nominated album Big Big Love, LITTLE BIRDY's second LP Hollywood reminds us of their stunning songwriting and sartorial splendour with vox appeal of Katy Steele to boot!
