The Used will launch a headlining tour of the U.S. on
September 4th, giving fans a chance to see them live after the Utah-bred quartet was forced to cancel their summer shows, including the Van's Warped Tour, due to frontman Bert McCracken undergoing surgery for a node on one of his vocal chords.
McCracken is on the mend and will be fully recovered by the time the tour launches on September 4th in Pompano Beach, FL. As drummer Dan Whitesides put it in a post on the band's website: "I've been home here in Salt Lake playing my drums and writing music with [guitarist] Quinn [Allman]. I'm just itching to get back on the road again and start rockin' some serious s*** with all of you, and I can't wait to see [bassist] Jeph [Howard], Bert, and all of our amazing crew. We're getting ready to rock the world, so get ready!"
Before the fall dates begin, The Used will hit the international circuit making appearances at the Leeds Festival on August 24th and the Reading Festival on August 26th. They then head back to the U.S. for the tour and an appearance on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" on September 14th. On October 19th, the band will headline the TASTE OF CHAOS tour through November 28th.
The band are out on tour supporting their third album, "Lies for the Liars," which was released by Reprise Records on May 22nd and debuted in the Top 5 on Billboard's Top 200. The album's first single "The Bird and the Worm" blew up on YouTube and climbed to Number 9 on the Modern Rock chart. The second single, "Pretty Handsome Awkward," will drop on August 20th and is also included on the soundtrack to the smash hit live-action robot fantasy film "Transformers." It is also the featured bumper on the ESPN X GAMES broadcast on ABC and ESPN. "Lies'" lead-off track, "The Ripper," will be included on the soundtrack to Electronic Arts' "Madden NFL 08," which is out in stores.
