LOS ANGELES (Motley Crue Fans Website) - A misdemeanor battery warrant for Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was issued on Wednesday (Aug. 7) in Los Angeles, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. Neil is accused of allegedly punching record producer Michael Schuman (Stevie Wonder, the Jacksons) outside the Rainbow Room - a popular metal hangout on the Sunset Strip - last April. Neil allegedly rolled up in a Rolls-Royce, stepped out from the vehicle, and "slugged Schuman in the face a couple of times," according to his attorney, Trent Copeland. The blows allegedly knocked a crown out of Schuman's mouth and caused him to fall to the ground, and allegedly fractured his elbow. According to Copeland, Neil and Schuman did not know each other and the incident appears to be a random act of violence on Neil's part. In his defense, manager Burt Stein of B Entertainment released the following statement on Thursday (Aug. 8). "Vince is cooperating fully with the Los Angeles investigators. We feel the charges are ridiculous and Vince will be fully exonerated." Neil is currently on tour and hits Visalia, Calif., on Friday (Aug. 9). His plans are to turn himself in upon his return to Los Angeles. The singer faces six months in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted.
