Mission of the 2007 Demo Shopping Symposium:
Our mission is to bridge the gap between unsigned artists and the music industry via workshops, demo critiques, business tips, networking, industry advice, and one on one mentorship.

Overview of the 2007 Demo Shopping Symposium:
It is becoming increasingly difficult to secure a major label deal. To be frank, in today's marketplace, most labels are more concerned with the research numbers connected to an artist's music than his/her ability to rock a crowd. Labels are more interested in an artist's song catalouge and his/her ability to develop a fan base beyond a showcase as evidenced by BDS spins and Soundscan sales.

An artist must ask himself/herself the following questions:

Does he/she have the tremendous amount of resources needed to build a national buzz through radio airplay and soundscan sales? Is he/she affiliated with a team or organization that is already signed with a major? Is he/she co-signed by a platinum producer or top notch mixtape DJ?

If the answer is no, then the best avenue an artist must take to get a deal is to develop a local buzz and build solid relationships with industry insiders. He or she must get on the radar with the A&R's, marketing reps, radio promoters etc. The music business is all about relationships!

The Urban Threshold Demo Shopping conference will assist in building solid music business relationships. The event will take place on November 17th, 2007. The Symposium will provide attendees with the opportunity to network with high profile industry insiders and build relationships. The event is designed to bridge the gap between the unsigned artist and the music industry. A max of 60 registrants are allowed to attend the conference.

The conference's attendees will get the opportunity to meet face to face with three major label A&R's. A&R's from Shady, Def Jam, Capitol Music Group, Atlantic, Jive, J Records, TVT, and Missing Link Publishing will sit on the listening panel. Many of these A&R's do not routinely accept unsolicited material, let alone take time out to have face to face meetings. The conference's attendees will get their music evaluated for deal consideration and received live feedback on the spot!
Equally important, the Urban Threshold Demo Shopping conference will feature very educational and enlightening Class room lectures from Distribution, Publishing, and Marketing professionals.
