With a dazzling musical assault that incorporates cataclysmic beats, metallic rock guitar, Brazilian drumming and melodic, soulful vocals, Infected Mushroom's live performances are rapidly becoming the stuff of legend - and a gander at the array of video clips already up on YouTube helps provide an explanation, as the group whips crowds all over the globe into an ecstatic froth.
Dubbed 'The only true megastars of psy-trance' by DJ Magazine (having expanded the Goa trance genre to include a truly psychedelic array of musical styles), Infected Mushroom has played to more than a million people around the globe. They have headlined such festivals as OMIX in Mexico, Miami's Ultra Festival, California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, San Diego Street Scene, L.A.'s Monster Massive, The Virgin Festivals in Toronto and Baltimore, and Sao Paulo's Tribe - as well as packing venues from Haifa to Los Angeles.
Founders Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani (aka Duvdev) - both Israeli natives who've relocated to Los Angeles - formed the band in 1997 and have since taken the club scene by storm. Utterly dispensing with the static model of dance-music performance, Duvdev clearly prefers the dynamic role of a rock frontman, swaggering about the stage and wailing soulfully (often joined by throngs of joyful fans); Eisen, meanwhile, brings playful charm to his keyboard antics. They're accompanied on their current tour by guitarist Tommy Cunningham, whose amp-melting riffage provides a formidable rock counterpoint, and Brazilian percussionist Rogerio Jardim, who adds irresistibly organic polyrhythms to Infected Mushroom's fusillade of beats.
