New Jersey (Top 40 Charts/ TREO) - Jazz is coming back stronger than ever in the South Jersey area as the Somers Point Jazz society continues their highly successful Blue Moon brewery winter jazz series at Stumpo's restaurant and Gregory's eaterie in Somers Point while tenor sax jazz great Michael Pedicin Jr .does his thing at Treo restaurant in Linwood.January 12, 2008.

It a.l kicks off at 8:00 PM at Stumpo's Italian Grille, Maryland & Sunny Ave., Somers point, NJ with the Hassan Abdullah Quintet. Local saxophone player, Hassan Abdullah, is much in demand as both leader of his own group and as a talented sideman. A favorite at the "Chicken Bone beach" concerts and other venues in the area, He brings his latest group to the winter jazz series. Then, at 8:30 P M at Gregory's Restaurant, 900 Shore Rd., Somers Point, it's guitar great Bob Sterling. Bob Sterling took up the guitar at a very early age and hasn't put it down since. He started working professionally at age 19 in local clubs. Later he landed a gig with Michael Pedicin and became the house guitarist at the Tropicana Casino backing up such stars as Lou Rawls, Billy Eckstine and Dionne Warwick.

He played in the Clint Holmes productions for 3 years & has performed at "Blues Alley" in Georgetown. He has followed his passion for composing and his Cd, "Pier Pressure, has received critical acclaim for this jazz/rock powerhouse. Joining Bob will be Bob Farina on drums, Jon Pruitt on piano, and Ken Joniec on bass. Check out Bob's web site at www.bobsterling.net Admission is $10 for non-jazz society members. Jazz Society members are admitted free. On January 15 and January 26 at 8 p.m., Michael Pedicin Jr. takes the stage at what is becoming one of the hot spots to dine and hear great music in South Jersey, Treo restaurant. Treo is located at 1201 New Road, Linwood, NJ and serves dinner from Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. Treo opens for Lunch on Monday, November 19th.

The Somers Point Jazz Society will show the jazz movie classic "Jazz on a Summer Day" 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at Stumpo's Italian Bar and Grill, Maryland and Sunny avenues.

The movie classic features some early footage from the Newport Jazz Festival, and jazz greats Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Stitt, Dinah Washington, Gerry Mulligan also are shown. Complimentary pizza will be provided.
